Bio

A little bit about Erin

Erin Kang (they/she) is a non-binary Korean living in Tkaronto (Toronto), ancestral lands of many Indigenous communities spanning thousands of years that are currently within the Dish With One Spoon wampum treaty territory.

They are a facilitator, storyteller, and dreamer who has been examining the relationship between people, place, and power through their studies, profession, and creative projects for over a decade. Erin is currently the Manager of Networks and Special Projects at the Ontario Nonprofit Network, currently leading the Reimagining Governance Initiative, a project aiming to break the status quo of nonprofit governance.

In 2015, Erin founded a grassroots project called Stories of Ours which aims to deepen community, invite solidarity, and challenge dominant narratives through intentional acts of storytelling and art. They are also co-founder of Dressed in Layers, an art project using 한복/hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) to explore notions of home, land, and community.

As a convener at heart, they thrive in spaces of community-building and mutuality. Erin’s work lies at the intersections of anti-oppressive pedagogy, community collaborations, and creative arts.

Erin loves plants, sci fi (especially if it’s queer and liberatory!), and playing video games with her cat.
